New Patient Experience

Your first visit, what to expect

We’re excited to welcome you to our practice! To provide you with the best possible care, your first appointment is focused on getting a complete picture of your oral health.

During this visit, the doctor will:

  • Review your medical and dental history
  • Take any necessary X-rays
  • Perform a comprehensive exam
  • Complete an oral cancer screening
  • Carefully evaluate your gum health

Why isn’t a cleaning done at the first visit?

Many patients understandably expect a cleaning at their first appointment. However, every patient’s needs are different, and the type of cleaning you need depends on the condition of your gums and teeth.

Some patients qualify for a routine preventive cleaning, while others may require a different type of treatment to properly address gum health. Completing a thorough exam first ensures we provide the right treatment — not just the fastest one.

What happens next?

During this visit, the doctor will:

  • We’ll explain our findings clearly
  • Review any recommended treatment
  • Discuss insurance benefits and fees
  • Schedule your cleaning or treatment at a convenient time

We know your time is valuable, and we appreciate your understanding as we take this important first step together. If you have questions before your appointment, please call our office — we’re happy to help.
